Couples Retreat

A tale of couples that have problems in their relationships, aware of or not. With all different dynamics, they go to an elaborate island with almost everything you could dream of in the hopes of rescuing one of the couples failing marriage. They find out later that they all must delve into their own relationships and problems that come with to remain on the island as a form of couples counseling. As always the hilarious Vince Vaughn brings a great comedic performance, but most stunning in this one is that he is not as hard to cope with. Is unmistakable form of comedic timing and delivery is less irritating and greatly benefits Couples Retreat in my opinion. Although, the movie is very "corny," I would still recommend it, it was a very entertaining, sappy, endearing movie.

Zombieland

Ok, so...get off your lazy ass and go see Zombieland. Don't wait for it to come out on DVD, don't download it! GO see it! It deserves your money. Some movies deserve your time and dinero. This movie was so funny, with its ensemble of uniquely funny actors/actresses. Ingredients for this cocktail of sorts is one part badass with nothing to lose, one part loner with his almost ADD list of rules, and two parts out for their own conniving sisters. A quotable, lovable movie, was one of the few movies to get me to jerk out of my seat in laughter. To take from the movie..."I don't know how to say goodbyes....so, That'll do pig."

G.I. JOE

For the 20 to 30 somethings of today we seem to be a bit nostalgic, and crave to recreate our old heroes and villains from the past. Whether it by from comics, t.v. shows, or video games, we have continually pushed our heroes/villains into the spotlight of the silver screen for good or for bad. G.I. JOE is it's newest addition to that trend. I tend to feel it played to much of the nostalgia card. Constantly giving back plot to numerous characters and in more detail throughout the movie. It does have some great fight scenes and awesome new weaponry that brings the show and comic book to life. On that same note though I would say it felt like the cartoon still sometimes. Simply put, the graphics weren't completely on par with some of the other movies to come out in its genre, but a believable plot and key characters from the comic that were in the movie are definite plus's. Overall, just make sure you watch in theatres.

Sunshine Cleaning

Seems like a lot of movies have come out now that simply tell a story, and good ones at that. We don't have to always have the bright lights and buildings exploding, and certainly we can have great acting without having the names in the staring roles to be "A" list stars. Just give us a compelling story for at least an hour and a half and you'll make some of us happy. Sunshine Cleaning does that for me, I loved how simple the movie was and how it was just about two sisters who were trying to make a life for themselves and both struggling with the past that they shared as well as the fact that they were "living in the past". Although, I must say the movie left some holes open, but I guess that makes it our job to create some more compelling stories to wrap them up.

Chaos Theory

If looking for a movie that makes a great attempt at taking a look at how life really is, or better yet a parallel of how life really is. Chaos Theory is a great choice. A telling perspective of no matter how one decides to live their lives, we all have the same loving, deceitful, adoring, self-indulgent, forgiving heart. Whether living life by making complete and utter choices by rational thought or by going on a whim and living life for the pure sake of living life, all of us make decisions as to how we live. All of us make decisions as to how we love, decieve, adore, and most importantly forgive. Chaos Theory illustrates the chaos of how we choose to live has absolutely no comparison to the chaos of our own heart.
